Baltimore, Maryland, We are seeking a Marketing Specialist   who will be member of the marketing and sales department within the Books Division of Hopkins Press, the Marketing Specialist is responsible for facilitating the creation of innovative marketing campaigns, tracking promotions, assisting with website updates, and creating reports for about 120-160 JHUP books per year.   The Marketing Specialist will join a team of exceptional professionals committed to bringing the benefits of discovery to the world by providing global access, impact, and influence for the scholarship that we publish and distribute. This position will help to ensure that the Press is a leader in the selection and development of innovative ideas and scholarship; the creation of pioneering technologies to enhance discovery and learning; and the connection of people to the most trusted knowledge from global researchers, scholars, and educators.    Specific Duties & Responsibilities: Coordinate and traffic the creative activities and marketing assets for promotions, including coordination within the Press. Coordinate the planning and execution of traditional advertising and direct mail campaigns, including creative direction, coordination with vendors and updates in Allbooks and Edelweiss. Along with other members of the sales and marketing team, develop and implement innovative marketing campaigns to promote Hopkins Press books, authors, and lists . Work with marketing and publicity teams to create and distribute regular marketing reports to the Press. Work with Digital Marketing Manager on regular updates to the website, including updating featured books, categories, virtual bookstores, and setting up sales promotions and sales codes. Assist in developing consistent email campaigns, with the goals of community building, list growth, engagement, and conversion to sales. Coordinate market research and surveys. This includes writing questions, programming the surveys, and collecting/analyzing results.   Work with Digital Marketing Manager on seasonal course adoption campaigns, including analysis of prior results. Collaborate with other marketing, publicity and sales team members on proofing, editing, and testing campaign pieces as needed. Occasionally represent the Press at meetings of academic and professional associations and domestic sales conferences. Weaves equity, justice, and inclusion principles into all aspects of the work.    Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory): Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required. Advanced Degree may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.* At least two years of related work experience required, with at least one year directly in a marketing, publicity or publishing role strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to implement online and traditional promotional campaigns.  Top-notch organizational skills; ability to handle competing demands from various sources. Experience with MS Office.   *  JHU Equivalency Formula: 18 graduate degree credits (semester hours)  may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.    ** Applicants who do not meet the posted requirements but are completing their final academic semester/quarter will be considered eligible for employment and may be asked to provide additional information confirming their academic completion date.    Preferred Qualifications: Book publishing experience. Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative, while maintaining a collaborative relationship with staff and outside vendors. Experience with Drupal CMS and Filemaker. Superior problem-solving skills including using analytics to drive decisions. Creative thinker; embracing new ideas; passionate about advancing the potential of JHUP.
