Job Description: The Office of Economic Development and Industry Relations (EDIR), ISU Research Park (ISURP), and Digital and Precision Agriculture (DPA at Iowa State University has an opening for an experienced marketing and communications professional to lead marketing, public relations, and branding efforts. This position will create and execute the organizationâ??s marketing and branding activities resulting in increased visibility for Iowa State University expertise and economic development. This position requires: A solid knowledge of economic development Business to business marketing techniques Social media expertise Excellent writing skills to create content, presentations and speeches Utilization of performance metrics and data to evaluate the impact of marketing efforts Responsibilities: Lead a targeted social media campaign focused on educating corporate executives on the advantages of doing business with Iowa State University. Develop internal marketing strategies and initiatives to communicate the organizationsâ?? missions, performance, and university internal and external audiences, including faculty, staff and students, government representatives, businesses, media, and partner organizations. Create a comprehensive marketing plan to execute the organizationâ??s goals. Contribute to the advancement of each organizationâ??s economic development priorities as well as facilitate internal connections and contribute to initiatives in support of the universityâ??s strategic goals regarding corporate outreach.   Occasionally stand in for CRO in presentations and in corporate engagement initiatives. Create speeches, talking points and PPTs for VP EDIR, President of ISURP and coordinate with Presidentâ??s office/speechwriter to pursue EDIR messaging. Identify opportunities to develop and manage internal programs that support economic development, research park tenancy and digital ag initiatives while enhancing the visibility of these groups and advancing the universityâ??s land grant mission through participation in national or regional programs. Develop knowledge of ISUâ??s research strengths, strategic priorities, resources and facilities to help promote engagement with external stakeholders. Create and execute marketing efforts to increase the exposure of its units and regional resources to global corporate executives and site selection professionals. Practice self-direction, innovation, and vision; demonstrated ability to collaborate, as well as the ability to understand complex matters and devise successful strategies and the skills to readily resolve problems and issues. Develop performance metrics of marketing efforts to track progress of marketing initiatives and social media activity driven by Iowa State Universityâ??s targeted areas where we have global prominence and capability. Launch social media marketing initiatives targeting corporate executives with content focused on raising awareness of the Iowa State Universityâ??s competitive advantages. Communicate and present to executive committee, boards, and economic development professionals regarding internal and external performance marketing efforts. Maintain brand standards, content management, marketing assets and collateral to ensure a consistent message from the organization. In addition, this position will work with the Iowa State University Marketing and Communications Department to ensure alignment of branding and messaging where applicable. Provide strategic marketing advice and guidance to EDIR, ISURP and DPA Launch and manage the EDIR, ISURP and DPA web presence. Qualifications: Strong independent work skills with a proven track record of taking initiative and developing relationships with key decision makers within an organization. Good communication skills necessary to establish and maintain relationships, strong attention to detail, creativity and motivation to meet and exceed established goals. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated excellence in interacting professionally and fostering solid partnerships both horizontally and vertically across many internal and external constituents and groups. Experience in making administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues, to use independent judgment, and to manage, preserve, and impart confidential information. Proven analytical/market research experience, knowledge and skills. Experience gathering data, compiling information, preparing reports, and maintaining records. Proficient skills in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database management, and presentation software. Demonstrated success achieving measurable outreach and marketing objectives. Knowledge of and experience with current and emerging communication technologies. Demonstrated success working with diverse internal and external constituencies. A proven track record of successfully maintaining and developing business and community relationships. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to vary and control nuances of tone, diction, rhythm, pace, and other stylistic features in writings. Understanding of economic development and each organizationâ??s role in the ecosystem. Knowledge of Salesforce, Pardot, CMS, and social media platforms Previous experience working with video production and editing preferred. Ability to travel normally requiring a valid driver’s license.
