Close Date: Overview This position is open until filled with first review of applicants to take place on March 22nd San Diego State University’s Global Campus (SDSU GC) has exciting opportunities within its growing Marketing Team, currently at eight, as we expand our efforts in meeting the needs of non-traditional students and being a global leader in providing innovative education programs that transform lives. Reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing, the Marketing Project Manager will be responsible for bringing marketing projects and plans of all sizes to fruition. As the Marketing Project Manager, your core role will be planning, organizing, and coordinating the execution of marketing strategies and plans that support the growth and promotion of SDSU Global Campus. This position is key to future growth and will be responsible for the top-to-bottom project management of marketing plan execution. The Marketing Project Manager must possess a keen understanding of project management best practices as well as an intermediate understanding of marketing tactics and strategies. This role requires the ability to operate on a strategic and highly organized level. The Marketing Project Manager is responsible for but not limited to: Core Responsibilities Manage the marketing calendar to reflect active and upcoming projects Support the annual marketing planning process, strategy build, and tactical employment by ensuring appropriate timelines are in place given staffing constraints and deadline requirements Assist in brief development based on intake requests. Manage follow-up with external partners and marketing team to develop and deploy marketing strategies and tactics Manage project lifecycle from start to finish across multiple program and product offerings. This will require coordination with necessary team members to ensure that projects start and finish on time. Collaborate with agencies and other vendor partners as needed to fulfill promotional strategic needs. Work with Executive Director of Marketing to prioritize project requests and ensure that deadlines are being met on time and within budget Work with partners and Executive Director of Marketing in defining project scope, marketing strategies/tactics, and goals. Collaborate with the program development team to ensure their marketing plans are adequately planned and kick-off sessions are scheduled Support the management of client asset review and feedback consolidation to help the marketing team be effective in their final deliverable(s) If a project is outsourced, coordinate with the vendor to ensure deliverables, contributors and milestones are aligned, delays are reported, the health of a project is communicated, and deadlines are met. Assess and leverage project management software to best serve the department and organizations needs Implement Marketing best practices by continuously working to enhance team infrastructure and efficiency. This will be done by helping to establish and document team processes and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned which may arise from the changing and evolving nature of SDSU GC marketing activities. Core Knowledge and Abilities Experience with and in-depth understanding of how to evaluate systems to create workflow efficiencies Strong leadership and strategic planning skills Excellent project management, analytical, and decision-making skills Adept problem-solver with expertise in adapting to changing schedules and multiple priorities Working knowledge of marketing fundamentals with a basic understanding of campaign metrics, ROI, and analytics. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to initiate and maintain cooperative, effective working relationships with academic and staff employees and the public. Ability to interact with others in a direct, cooperative, and tactful manner and with a professional demeanor. Demonstrated proficiency and capabilities with personal computers and software, and the Web. Working knowledge of standard computer office applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google G Suite, project management tools (Basecamp or other project management software), Salesforce. Qualifications Core Experience/Education Bachelors degree in business, marketing, or related field. Five or more years experience; 2 of which are in marketing project management. Preferred Qualifications Proven track record of project management end to end marketing campaigns and delivering post-campaign, client-based reports. Additional project management certificate or certification is strongly preferred. Experience in managing and implementing project management software (e.g. Basecamp, Asana, Workzone) Evidence of effective cross-functional communication and relationship management with internal and external partners.
