This position provides project coordination and marketing support to the IU School of Education’s Center for Postsecondary Research. The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) is a 20-year-old self-funded and sustainable research and assessment project with a solid reputation for producing higher education research and useful data and reports to approximately 500 colleges and universities in the US and Canada annually. The project is dependent on recruiting institutions to participate in the survey, producing quality project materials and reports, and facilitating colleges and universities’ use of results to improve undergraduate education. NSSE and the affiliate projects, the Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (FSSE), the Beginning College Survey of Student Engagement (BCSSE) and the NSSE Institute, the research and outreach arm of the project, have considerable marketing and promotions needs to reach our market of the thousands of eligible bachelor’s granting institutions and academic leaders in higher education and to producing project deliverables. Job Summary The Marketing & Project Assistant provides both project coordination and marketing support to the Center of Postsecondary Research and the NSSE project. Department Specific Responsibilities Coordinates support for project management activities, resource allocation and communication. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to develop messaging that supports project goals that can be adapted for different audiences and formats and applied effectively across multiple delivery platforms. Performs day-to-day communications associated with NSSE project and client services as needed. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to support various programs. General Responsibilities Under supervision, performs routine and increasingly complex administrative tasks related to marketing, such as drafting and editing communications for specific target audiences or student groups, packaging, promoting, and/or delivering promotional or educational materials, organizing promotional events, performing marketing research, and/or assisting with special projects. Assists with editing and production of marketing materials, procurement of promotional and educational materials, packaging and distribution of marketing direct mail and email distribution, and maintenance of contact lists for vendors and marketing populations. May monitor relevant social media and news sites and respond to customer inquiries to provide information and explain policies and procedures. Manages accuracy of mailing and distribution lists; makes regular updates as there are staffing and/or process changes. Prepares reports, marketing timelines, and calendars; monitors progress of marketing initiatives toward relevant deadlines, project timelines, programs, and strategies. May make process recommendations to supervisor.
