Corvallis, Oregon, Internal Job Number: P05791UF Description: The College of Liberal Arts is seeking a Marketing & Digital Communications Specialist. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position. This position creates, maintains, updates, and manages the digital presence of Oregon State University’s arts programming, including live events, gallery installations, artist-in-residence activities, and all forms of related content presented on- and off-site. The position is housed in the Arts and Education Complex ( AEC ) while being responsible for the AEC’s comprehensive mission of serving as a hub and a network for arts activity across the University. The Marketing and Digital Communications specialist will build and subsequently maintain a comprehensive website for arts events at OSU which hosts an up-to-date calendar, videos and other promotional materials, integrations with community arts opportunities, artist-in-residence and visiting artist profiles, opportunities pages for audiences and artists, and potentially a digital OSU arts magazine. The Marketing and Digital Communications specialist will also build and manage social media platforms for communicating about the arts. This position will assist the Associate Director in developing a marketing plan to build audiences for the platforms and maintain an editorial calendar for each platform. While graphic design and visual content is generally produced by the marketing and communications team in the College of Liberal Arts, the Marketing and Digital Communications specialist works closely with that group and with OSU Printing and Mailing for the production and distribution of print materials, including event promotion, mailings, flyers, and other marketing materials. This position reports to the AEC Associate Director of Audience Engagement and Education and works with the Associate Director to prioritize marketing efforts and the allocation of resources so projects are completed in a timely manner based on their strategic importance. The specialist communicates regularly with the entire AEC organization staff and participates in strategy and planning to ensure alignment across all communications platforms, awareness of all events and art installations, and timing of marketing campaigns and information release. The Marketing and Digital Communications specialist coordinates regularly with marketing and communications staff in the College of Liberal Arts, with University Relations and Marketing and the OSU Foundation. The specialist will conduct data measurement and analysis related to marketing efficacy, impact, and scope/reach. This position launches one year ahead of the opening of the new Arts and Education Complex, and it is anticipated that the building of digital platforms as well as marketing and promotional materials will occur over that year, with subsequent attention turning to timely updates, promotion for individual events and exhibitions, maintenance and redesign as necessary, and the active management of the marketing and promotion for an organization with a robust performing and presentation schedule. Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty): Typically requires Bachelor’s degree in field related to the discipline of the college, unit or department with professional communications and marketing experience. Requirements : Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, web design, digital/multimedia communications or a related field and minimum of five (5) years of experience in managing digital communications, both web and social media platforms or combination of experience and advanced education that demonstrates comparable background. Demonstrated knowledge of traditional and digital marketing fundamentals. Experience using content management systems like Drupal, OmniUpdate and WordPress. Experience using Google Analytics and other digital reporting tools to monitor site traffic and behaviors along with marketing campaign measurement and management with a commitment to meet high standards of accessibility and usability. Experience in website development and management, multimedia design, programming and testing for user experience. Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms, and understanding their respective participants, and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios. Ability to manage priorities, deadlines, and time-critical situations for multiple projects and clients; proven project management, problem solving, and organizational skills. Excellent writing skills and experience creating a voice and writing copy for digital marketing and communications efforts. A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity. Type: This position generally works standard hours in a typical office environment (80% of time). Some social media posting in connection with live events may be required. Attending some evening or weekend events for the purpose of capturing photographs, video, or other marketing content will be required.
