Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Pay Grade/Pay Range:   56 Hourly (non-exempt) – Minimum – $ 14.49 Midpoint – $ 21.15 Department/Organization:  505171 – Supply Store – Ferguson Normal Work Schedule:  Monday-Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, some weekends & extended hrs. Job Summary:  The Marketing Coordinator I is responsible for marketing, promotion, and publicity functions for a department, college, or division. Responsibilities could include creating and implementing marketing strategies using advertising, media, direct mail, and other printed material, broadcast outlets and mailing lists; overseeing the production of the materials specified in marketing plans and calendars; consulting with product and/or program development; developing budgets, and maintaining good working relations with the news media. Additional Department Summary:  The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for marketing, promotion, and publicity functions for the Supply Store. Responsibilities include creating and implementing marketing / advertising messages and content for print and digital publication across various mediums; overseeing the production of the materials specified in marketing plans and calendars; consulting with buyers and department managers to determine promotional needs; working with Associate Director – General Merchandise, Systems and Marketing to develop and maintain marketing budgets; and adhering to brand standards set forth by the University’s Division of Strategic Communications. The primary responsibility of this position is coordinating the marketing and advertising efforts for The University Supply Store. This position will report to the Associate Director – General Merchandise, Systems and Marketing and will work directly with the Supply Store management team to develop internal and external communications in support of the department’s mission, vision, goals and programming. Required Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree and some experience. Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ability to work weekends and nights as needed for campus events and systems operations. Must have valid U.S. driver’s license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions. Must be willing to travel for educational and training opportunities. Skills and Knowledge:  Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, the ability to prioritize and accomplish numerous tasks simultaneously, ability to work independently and within deadlines are required. It is vital that the Marketing Coordinator have sound verbal and written language skills to effectively communicate with fellow professionals both in person and in writing. Preferred Qualifications:  A cover letter, resume and design samples must be submitted. A minimum of one year experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Microsoft Office programs is preferred. Copywriting experience and/or command of Associated Press writing style preferred.
