Evanston, Illinois, Department: MED-Center for Food Allergy & Asthma Research Salary/Grade: EXS/5 Job Summary: The Communications Coordinator for the Center for Food Allergy & Asthma coordinates marketing, communications, and graphic design resources and efforts designed to inform, encourage and educate patients, policy makers, and health care providers on food allergies, asthma, and related conditions.  Specific Responsibilities : Communication & Outreach Serves as the in-house graphic designer Coordinates social media posts for CFAAR and faculty; accountable for ensuring accurate and timely research content and growing social media audience and engagement Develops coordinated, consistent marketing messages and brand standards. Supports implementation of brand identity for programs and projects; ensure all marketing and communication materials accurately represent CFAAR across all collaborations and research projects. Coordinates the marketing and communication of new and current research projects within CFAAR, working with unit leaders and institutional partners to ensure marketing and communication plans effectively target the correct audience(s) and support CFAAR’s mission and strategic priorities. Supports the Director of Communications & Outreach with Center Director-level reports, projects, and requests. Strategic Planning Supports implementation of strategic communication and marketing plans. Provides advice and counsel and recommends changes and improvements to functional operations to better meet organizational needs and objectives. Evaluation Tracks effectiveness of communications strategies and systems using analytics; makes recommendations for optimization. Conducts periodic surveys to evaluate the effectiveness of communication methods and routines; participates in post-event debriefs and adjusts future marketing and communication plans as needed. Events Supports implementation of brand standards, including graphics, marketing, and related collateral, for events hosted by CFAAR. Miscellaneous Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or higher degree ideally in communications, integrated marketing, journalism, English, or a related field; OR appropriate combination of education and experience. Minimum 1 year professional work experience including marketing/communications and project management experience. Demonstrated graphic design experience. Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.) Excellent communication skills Excellent organizational skills Knowledgeable user of graphic design software(e.g. Adobe InDesign, Canva, etc.) Knowledgeable user of Microsoft Office Preferred Qualifications: Portfolio demonstrating professional communications and highlighting unique strengths in multimedia communications. 4-years related work experience. Experience working in an academic setting Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities) 2+ years of experience with communications and graphic design Experience with brand management, developing and leading brand strategy initiatives that make complex ideas accessible to diverse audiences. Familiarity with web content management systems.
