Shenandoah, Texas, The Shenandoah, TX, Convention and Visitors Bureau (d.b.a. “Visit Shenandoah, Texas”) seeks a marketing and communications specialist to play a critical role in helping it achieve its goals as it works on implementing its strategic plan to raise awareness for the destination, and develops new initiatives designed to help support local businesses and enhance the city’s reputation and profile among a wide range of audiences. This individual will report to, and work closely with the Director, as well as other city staff, contractors and a variety of partners in this position.
The person selected for this position will be responsible for developing, delivering, and tracking the digital marketing, content development, and sales programming of Visit Shenandoah, Texas. These programs help to tell the various stories of Shenandoah across a wide range of target visitor audiences.  The position manages marketing vendors and the various marketing programs they create on behalf of Visit Shenandoah, and when appropriate, works with area hotel and other partners to respond to special events, sports, and small meeting leads. This person works closely with the Director to implement the City’s marketing strategies including advertising, public relations, earned media, social media, research, special promotions, direct sales, tradeshows/industry meetings, familiarization tours and visitor services.
Previous experience developing, managing and growing the above type of programs, along with a mathematical mind capable of analyzing and understanding program metrics and experience adjusting programming and spend accordingly, is necessary.  Monitoring and making monthly updates to an existing database of performance data will be required.  The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with a variety of individuals and personality types, must be creative and able to communicate effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.  Additionally, they need to act professionally, with emotional intelligence and tact, while displaying positive demeanor in all interactions.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The below duties are representative of the breadth of responsibilities the successful candidate should be capable of performing, with oversight by the Director:

Implements various facets of the Visit Shenandoah marketing plan, including print, internet, electronic (including social media), direct mail, specialty, and other outreach.
Oversees designated design work including recurring publications, sales presentation graphics, announcements, etc.
Manages all social media platforms, blog posts, e-newsletters, and online campaigns (paid and organic).
Maintains and services all Visit Shenandoah websites and digital resources, including updating an existing database of performance data monthly.
Develops strategic content creation through photography, video, and written content.
Facilitates user submitted content to ensure brand reputation and promise is maintained.
Coordinates and tracks all digital-related vendor contracts and accounting processing.
Stays up to date with the latest industry trends and put those into practice on the various social/digital media outlets.
Works continuously to maintain accuracy of content.
Helps coordinate communications, bids, and services for prospective events that need hotel room inventory in Shenandoah as well as access to sports or meeting venues space both in, and near, Shenandoah.
Manages all post event procedures to debrief on the event and collect feedback through surveys.
Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications, public relations, tourism, business administration and/or similar degree preferred
Minimum of three years of marketing communications experience
Proven results in implementing marketing and communications strategic plans
Proven results in managing social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.), and analytics technologies
Proficient in Microsoft Office e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook. Other graphic programs such as Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop are a plus
Proven positive experience on all social media platforms
Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills is a must

Ability to exchange ideas, facts and/or technical information and provide guidance clearly and concisely in person, virtually, or by telephone, email, text, fax or correspondence;
Ability to interact with co-workers, partners and the public by telephone and in person and in writing in a positive way that provides excellent service to both internal and external customers; ability to perform a variety of duties while prioritizing tasks to meet organizational needs.
Physical requirements include sight, hearing, sitting for four + hours a day, standing for one to four+ hours a day, stooping; skills essential for successful communications include speaking, writing, and reading comprehension.

The individual selected for this position must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and have dependable transportation.
