This position also administers server systems and technical processes foundational to the upkeep of these websites and their integrated services. Primary duties include web development and system integrations, as well as the development of both internal workflow tools and customer-facing marketing websites. Follow trends and upcoming development in the field of website content delivery. Evaluate new/emerging technologies for potential inclusion in future versions. Remain current and informed on emerging technologies to advise the Director of Marketing. Required Qualifications:: Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field OR Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field and one year experience. Or three years experience in lieu of degree. Knowledge of multiple front-end languages, libraries, frameworks (e.g., HTML / CSS , Javascript, jQuery, React or Angular) Knowledge of back-end languages ( PHP , Nodejs or Python) Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB) Basic Linux systems administration knowledge Experience in open-source PHP based CMS web development or comparable experience Preferred Qualifications:: Knowledge of Apache and Nginx web servers Knowledge of version control repositories (e.g. Git, GitHub, and bitbucket) Knowledge of REST API Knowledge of Linux shell scripting Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite applications. Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery tooling (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab-CI) Essential Functions and percent of time:: 65% Develop web-based solutions for use in the production of marketing related websites in a content management system (Drupal). The employee will thoroughly test new development to ensure successful software deployment and will deploy new production ready pages, features, and sites. 20% Monitor, research and suggest system standards, upgrades, updates, features and conventions to be utilized by marketing as technology evolves and upgrades. Monitor open-source code bases to know when custom development is necessary compared to adopting existing code and solutions. Research and maintain knowledge on trends in CSS design, Javascript, jQuery, accessibility, page development, SEO , predictive search, version control, and other industry standards to ensure WSU pages follow long term trends. 10% Administer and maintain cloud-based UNIX /Linux-based server infrastructure for a web site delivery. Provide a secure, reliable, and optimized environment for the university web presence. 5% Documentation of code base, processes, customizations, and usability, to ensure the team is accurate in training, standards and dynamic system development. 5% Other duties as assigned.
