Director of Marketing and Fan Engagement
The Director of Marketing and Fan Engagement is responsible for the game day production of Wichita State athletic events with an emphasis on providing unique and memorable experiences for fans in attendance while creating a home court and field advantage for student-athletes. This position also handles all advertising and marketing plans for 15 Division I sports. This position reports directly to the Associate AD for Strategic Communications and Marketing.

Oversee Wichita State Athletics overall marketing strategy and game day presentation
Oversee one graduate assistant, while also facilitating the hiring process
Partner with several other athletics department and non-athletics department units to effectively market Wichita State Athletics and communicate with key stakeholders
Develop and implement entertainment elements for Wichita State home events and select outside events hosted by Wichita State including NCAA Tournaments and TBT
Direct the day-to-day operations including performance management of staff and the development and implementation of individual sport marketing plans for select sports including men’s basketball
Collaborating with coaches to identify and implement grassroots marketing activities
Develop programming for those sports including videoboard content, on-field/court recognitions, giveaways, halftime shows, sponsor activations, in-game promotions and contents and other entertainment elements
Write and execute game scripts for assigned sports and coordinate information and run of show with Shocker Sound, Spirit Squad, public address announcer, DJ, audio team and videoboard crew
Book national anthem performers, halftime acts and be the contact person for special recognitions
Assist in the recruitment, hiring and training of marketing interns
Oversee game-day sponsor fulfillment including print, game-day promotion, on-court promotions, game-day hospitality, game-day messaging of sponsorships and promotions for select sports including men’s basketball
Produce scripting for radio and television reads for select sports
Develop and maintain relationships across campus and implement initiatives to increase student attendance and engagement at athletic events while working closely with Student Affairs, Greek Life, Residence Life and the Homecoming Committee
Develop strategies to increase revenue through season, single, and group ticket sales
Serve as administrator for the Spirit Squad and the band
Work with Shocker Sports Properties to identify revenue streams
Collaborate with other WSU-ICAA units to effectively manage ticket inventory, set pricing and utilize marketing resources to reach ticket sales and revenue goals in all areas
Work with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and serve as the Athletic Department contact for the Gold Carpet Awards
Determines appropriate budget expenditures and allocations relative to the implementation of marketing plans as well as the fulfillment of sponsorship contracts

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or a related field
A minimum of three years of combined experience in promotional marketing and event presentation
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
Knowledgeable of Daktronics video board equipment including show control and tricaster

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, creative self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills. This role will require a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
