Birmingham, Alabama, The Director of Marketing and Fan Engagement will be a valuable member of the external affairs team. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the development and execution of marketing plans, campus and community outreach, fan experience, and branding initiatives. Individual will work in unison with the strategic communications team to establish one voice for content and communications.

What are the duties, responsibilities and expectations of this position:
•Develop a comprehensive and strategic marketing plan for the athletic department to grow the Samford brand and increase ticket revenue
•Development and execution of marketing plans for 17 men’s and women’s sports
•Effectively develop and manage the athletic marketing budget
•Management of in-game entertainment, including script writing, music, PA, video board production, and on-field promotions
•Community outreach with local schools, churches, recreation departments, etc. to increase engagement, grow attendance, and build the Samford brand
•Campus outreach to include working with Student Affairs, Greek Life, Campus Rec, etc. to increase engagement, grow attendance and build the Samford brand
•Recruit, supervise, and coordinate marketing graduate assistants and student marketing assistants
•Oversee the production of marketing collateral such as schedule cards, posters, promo items, etc.
•Partner with University Admissions to promote athletics among prospective students to include preview days, campus tours, and Bulldog Days Orientation
•Supervise cheer coach and provide budget oversight
•Serve as the athletic department liaison for interaction and coordination with athletic bands
•Lead external advertising campaigns
•Coordination with University Office of Marketing and Communication to assure consistency with university brand guidelines and overall university marketing strategies
•Collaborate with the athletic development team to establish and implement marketing collateral for fundraising initiatives and events such as the Bulldog Club Annual Fund, Sport Booster Clubs, Samford Classic, Samford Athletics Hall of Fame, and S-Club
•Work closely with ticket sales and operations to develop pricing, special packages, and ticket promotions to drive attendance and ticket revenue
•Develop and coordinate the dissemination of promotional messages through various social media channels and new technology
•Work closely with media rights partner to execute the corporate sponsorship fulfillment process
•Other duties as assigned Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree
1-2 years of experience in athletics marketing

Additional attributes that will be used in screening applicants:

Experience developing marketing plans and coordinating live events
Master’s degree
Proficient in computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (including but not limited to Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, Etc.)
Proficient working in CRM systems
Ability and willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays
Knowledge of and respect for the Samford mission
