Purpose Statement
San Domenico School, a K-12 independent school in San Anselmo, is seeking a dynamic professional for the role of Director of Marketing and Communications.  The Director of Marketing and Communications at San Domenico shall be a highly organized, motivated, thorough, and team-orientated individual leading strategies to support institutional priorities. 
This person will report to the Head of School and, in collaboration with the Board of Trustees, Admissions, Advancement, School Level Directors, Athletics, Visual, Digital and Performing Arts, Music, and Sustainability, develop and implement a comprehensive and strategic marketing and branding plan that promotes enrollment, fundraising, and the vision and mission of the school.
 
Key Responsibilities of the Director of Marketing and Communications:

Collaborate with the Head of School and as a member of the Leadership Team on strategic planning and key program decisions.
Grow and strengthen brand awareness, visibility, and public perception of the school.
Oversee and coordinate Admissions, Advancement, Board, School-Level Directors, and department-specific leads on branding and communications to ensure all are in alignment with the School’s vision and mission.
Manage media relations, including writing press releases, cultivating relations with local media, and/or working with publicists as needed.
Oversee strategic updates to the school website for optimized UX and SEO.
Oversee photo and video strategy for print and digital materials.
Direct a comprehensive story-telling and publications program (concept, design, content, editorial, and production for paper and electronic communications) that reaches and influences the school’s target audiences; collaborate on admissions collateral, annual report, school directory, student handbook, course catalog, and event invitations and programs; lead on School Ties magazine, weekly eBulletins, and key communications.
Ensure brand consistency across campus grounds and facilities.
Oversee spirit wear and uniform program.
Oversee an integrated online presence on social media platforms.
Act as a community relations representative to the school at local, regional, national, and international events.
Attend key Admissions, Advancement, school level, and All School events, as necessary.
Supervise professional consultants contracted to address communication and marketing goals.
Manage crisis communication plans and strategies.
Supervise Marketing & Communications team members (Asst. Director & Director of Web & Digital Strategies)
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. 
Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

  Position Qualifications:

Drive and ability to take pride in ownership as part of a team-building the foundation for the next chapter in a tradition of purpose-driven education 
Minimum five years experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or comparable experience 
Ability to perform under deadline, work nights and weekends for special events, and handle a wide variety of projects simultaneously 
Superb skills in writing and publication design 
Experience with Content Management Systems 
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field 
Experience in independent Schools and/or comparable marketing and communications experience. 
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
Excellent computer proficiency (iPad, Mac computer, Gmail/Google Drive, MS Office – Word, Excel, PPT)
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
Familiarity with SEM, SMM, and SEO

Preferred Qualifications:

Graphic design skills 
Data analytics to drive admissions and marketing campaigns 

 
  Compensation:
Salary commensurate with experience, plus an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/matching 403b retirement plan, daily lunch.
