Firefly Fiber Broadband (a subsidiary of CVEC)
LOVINGSTON, Virginia, The Digital Marketing Coordinator will positively position and promote Firefly Fiber Broadband’s brand, products, and services via digital and traditional communication channels. Creating digital content for social media and the website, as well as traditional content (such as press releases, articles, and letters) to inform and educate customers and the community about Firefly’s products and services are critical accountabilities for this position.
We are seeking a hands-on, highly experienced professional to craft and execute creative PR messaging and multi-channel media campaigns, with emphasis on digital media. This position must successfully partner with the Communications Department at Central Virginia Electric Cooperative (CVEC), Firefly’s “parent company,” as well as senior management, internal departments, community, and external partners.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Design and Produce Content of Communications and Marketing Materials:
Build and maintain effective partnerships with the CVEC Communications Department and Firefly internal departments to develop, coordinate, and facilitate strategic communications designed to meet business goals. This involves continuously understanding and adapting to the fast-paced Firefly growth initiatives.
Promote Firefly’s brand, products and services and ensure consistency across all communication channels.
Create social media content and manage social media campaigns.
Develop and update content on the Firefly website and write content for Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
Develop effective communication and marketing materials for products, services, launches, events, and promotions.
Create direct mail pieces and oversee mailings with third party vendor.
Design promotional items for distribution at events, festivals and launches.
Create press releases, press kits, articles, newsletters, and related marketing materials (emails, soundbites, videos, pitches, presentations, articles, social media content) for internal and external audiences.
Develop and implement effective communication strategies that build brand awareness and customer satisfaction and ensure consistency among different stakeholders .
Respond to communication-related issues in a timely manner. When possible, pro-actively anticipate, plan for, and address potential issues with appropriate communications. Serve as an escalation point for issues with communications.
Ensure communication and marketing timelines are met and adhere to the budget, including projects utilizing outside contractors, vendors, or other parties.
Enhance media relations by developing and maintaining contacts with media members, influencers, and community leaders.
Capture video and photos in the field, as well as staff press events, launches and community events. This will require travel throughout the Firefly service territory as well as extended work hours.
Communications & Marketing Research and Reporting
Research and understand key business challenges, customer behaviors, target audiences, competitive activity, and environmental factors that impact Firefly Communications priorities.
Prepare detailed media activity reports.
Measure communication program success to ensure goals are being met .
Stay informed of developments within the industry to foster ideas and innovation.
Track engagement across various platforms and make data-driven decisions.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or relevant field.
A minimum of 3 years of business or related experience including writing and proofing for an external audience, content development for digital communications, designing and maintaining websites, managing social media sites, desktop publishing experience, and video production is required.
Other Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with brilliant presentation and organizational skills eager to join a fast-paced, locally-owned internet service provider in Central Virginia.
Outstanding communication skills in all mediums (written, verbal, electronic, social media, etc.).
Proven experience creating effective targeted content.
Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, to include Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro.
Proven experience with graphic design, layout, and publishing (portfolio required if interviewed).
Impeccable copywriting and copy-editing abilities.
Experience designing and maintaining websites using Word Press as well as proficiency with search engine marketing, Google Analytics, and Google AdWords.
Experience with creating content for social media platforms and social media marketing.
Experience in video production and editing as well as managing and filing digital content.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Knowledge of email automation and direct mailings.
Self-starter, requiring minimal supervision. Work independently and as part of a team; own projects from start to finish. Ability to multitask and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
Must be able to work outside normal work week hours as well as travel to CVEC and CVSI office locations as necessary.
Desired Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
Established media relations.
Prior telecommunications industry experience with cooperative experience a plus.
