Department: Marketing and Communication Job Title: Digital Marketing Content Creator Campus: Queens (Opportunity for a hybrid work arrangement). Job Summary: Reporting to the Director of Digital Communication, the Digital Marketing Content Creator writes, develops, and edits content for a variety of digital platforms, including websites, blogs, videos, media campaigns, social media posts, infographics, whitepapers, and more. The Digital Marketing Content Creator is responsible for creating content and digital assets in support of St. John’s overall marketing strategies to drive engagement, promote programs, increase brand awareness, etc. To be a successful content creator you should be driven, detail-oriented, and able to identify new ways to appeal to prospective students’ interests by creating engaging material. Essential Functions: Create strong, engaging content that motivates, inspires, educates, informs, and provides information, across a wide variety of digital platforms. Write, edit, optimize, and update content for websites, blog posts, videos, social media posts/campaigns, media campaigns, whitepapers, and other content as required. Conduct research and interviews to learn more about current trends, developments, and perceptions about the subject matter, and then contextualizing your findings. Develop and deliver content with the marketing goal in mind (awareness, engagement, conversion) and that helps readers solve a problem or understand a topic/issue. Challenge traditional marketing ideas and bring fresh, executable ideas, and approaches to digital content. Produce organic content and paid media assets according to specs. This includes copy/content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Snapchat, Pinterest and others. Develop a strong understanding of both graduate and undergraduate programs, competition, industry, marketing goals, and objectives of each of the clients. Collaborating with internal departments to establish campaign objectives, complete tasks, and identify and solve problems. Utilize SEO methods to increase site traffic and maximizes opportunities for indexing, ranking, clickthrough’s and conversion. Monitor social media and generate content ideas through social listening. Work with videographer and creative director to identify ways to emphasize key points, enhance the story, and support goals in videos. Stay informed of high education trends, practices, and emerging technologies and approaches. Follow company brand guidelines to ensure their messaging is consistent with St. John’s guidelines/value/mission. Competencies Excellent working knowledge of major social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TixToc, LinkedIn, YouTube, Snapchat, and Pinterest. Knowledge and understanding of SEO best practices, including a detailed understanding of key phrase research and its application to SEO and a clear understanding of how Google’s algorithm ranks pages Blogging experience. Experience using content management systems and managing/editing websites is a plus. Creative thinker with excellent content generation skills. Demonstrated excellence in writing, proofreading, and editing. Excellent research, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure. The capacity to work independently and collaboratively. Personable and approachable, with an enthusiastic nature and an overall passion for excellence. Work Environment This position operates in a professional office environment; This position is required to use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, etc. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; move about; sit; to carry work and use controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; communicate. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work Standard days and hours of operations are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position may require night and weekend work hours. Applicant must currently reside in the New York area, with an opportunity for a hybrid work arrangement. Travel Occasional travel may be required, which is primarily local within the metropolitan area. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in English, marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or a similar field. 2-4 years of consistent success in digital marketing and marketing content creation.
