The Windward School is currently seeking an Associate Director of Marketing & Communications to partner with the Director of Marketing & Communications in leading the digital brand positioning, marketing, and communications. The Associate Director will innovate and recommend strategies and tactics across an array of departmental initiatives aligned with the mission, DEIB commitments, and objectives of Windward.
In a fast-paced MarCom department and organization, the Associate Director will work independently and as a leader of projects and teams to support the delivery of high quality, strategic content across communications channels/deliverables including: social media, blogs, websites, portals, emails, presentations, collateral, video, advertising, public relations, publications, surveys, policies, and more.
The Associate Director will leverage exceptional written and verbal communications skills and will have a strong attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills. To support the marketing and communications department’s strategic priorities, the Associate Director will identify, innovate, and deliver content across digital and traditional communications channels. With targeted audiences in mind, the Associate Director will tell stories from our community through multimedia channels. As a leader of digital channels, the Associate Director will keep abreast and train others proactively on best practices and new media.
The Associate Director will act as the primary editor and lead project manager in the conception, content creation, and execution of 4 annual publications. This includes leading schedules and budgets, as well as internal teams, design agencies, writers, and mailhouse. The Associate Director will also be a contributing copywriter to these pubs.
Project management, flexibility, multi-tasking, and organizational skills will be used rigorously in this role. A commitment to collaboration, team work, and agency management will be valuable. The work will be driven by goals around awareness-building, enrollment, family/alumni relations, fundraising, and more. The Associate Director will have a significant role in crisis/emergency communications as they arise and will make regular updates, across an array of digital channels, to inform and support the extended Windward community.
The Associate Director will serve as client service liaison to several as assigned internal teams (i.e. Development), managing project timelines, ensuring timely project completion, and communicating status updates and clear expectations for project execution.

Duties and Responsibilities
Steward Windward’s editorial and brand standards, ensuring brand consistency and integrity of the school’s communications.
Stay informed on marketing and communications best practices and leverage them to optimize outcomes. Train others proactively.
Develop and create a range of strategically driven, high-quality digital media projects, including the conception, execution and delivery of website content, video content, graphic design, and messaging for social media, and other creative projects.
Lead the creation and delivery of 4 publications annually, on time, and on budget.
Regularly monitor readership and impact of communications channels/
Solicit input on major initiatives, analyze and present data analytics, and adjust strategy in support of communications plans.
Manage the website including day-to-day updates, monthly analytics reporting, SEO optimization and enhanced user experience and functionality.
Strong fluency with website technologies, various social media platforms, digital advertising, database platforms, and email platforms.
Secure and lead photographers and videographers.
Independently and collaboratively manage projects and teams, including vendors.
Gain training across all needed platforms and participate in rotating on-call schedule (which spans every day in year, during and outside business hours) in the management of crisis/emergency communications.
Manage production process for deliverables by coordinating with
outside vendors (graphic designers, printers, videographers, photographers,etc.) and supporting project schedules, and estimating/invoicing tasks.
Lead maintainence of the school’s portal and website calendar in conjunction with org calendar and other schedules.
Attend in-person and virtual events (during school days, evenings, and weekends)
and created written promotional and/or recap communications, as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree required in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or related field
5+ years of related professional experience, optimally in the education or
Exceptional, proven skills in: project management, copywriting/editing, producing publications/collateral, and managing digital channels
Ability to convey the mission and tone of The Windward School
Strong skills in basic graphic design, photography, and video capturing skills; strong creative director
Experience with content management systems with a basic understanding of web programming and HTML
Superior client service and interpersonal skills with proven follow-through ability
Proven project management, organization, and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
Ability to be flexible, multitask, and to work collaboratively and independently
Strong attention to detail and deadlines required; able to work quickly with a commitment to accuracy
Must have a strategic and tactical mindset, as well as a positive mindset
Must possess a willingness to accept feedback and adapt
Proficient and willingness to work with WordPress, Contstant Contact, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, etc), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
