Clayton, Missouri, Scheduled Hours 37.5 Position Summary The Associate Director of Annual Giving Programs (AGP) will lead the Direct Marketing & Participation (DMP) teamâ™s efforts to grow Annual Fund support and increase alumni participation. This role will be responsible for helping cultivate a culture of philanthropy within the WashU community by developing and enhancing participation strategies for undergraduate alumni. Additionally, the Associate Director will oversee participation programs, including giving days and Loyalty Society, as well as supporting student philanthropy and class/reunion giving efforts to promote the Annual Fund. Job Description Primary Duties and Responsibilities Undergraduate Alumni Participation: Responsible for developing long-term strategies to drive growth of WashUâ™s philanthropic culture through Annual Fund awareness and understanding among our alumni and campus. Serve as the subject matter expert on the standards of alumni participation metrics. Research and develop messaging and direct marketing tactics to embrace and embolden participation from recent graduates, young alumni, multigenerational families, and dual alumni households. Consult and collaborate with school/unit partners to develop innovative marketing approaches to increase alumni donors through cause-based affinity giving. Seek opportunities to facilitate feedback and suggestions from alumni and donors. Openly communicate with peer schools, vendors, and professional organizations around best practices, trends, and emerging developments in annual giving and alumni participation.  Giving Days: Plan and execute giving day programs. Review and enhance annual campaigns for existing projects (First Day and Giving Tuesday) and develop and implement strategies for new projects. Lead steering committee teams to design marketing/promotional schedules, appeal/solicitation campaigns, virtual and in-person event/participation logistics, and student/volunteer/staff engagement opportunities. Collaborate with AGP and other UA teams to identify potential challenges/donor matches, school/unit specific sub-campaigns, and audience segmentation. Research and integrate industry trends, technology solutions/platforms, and participation messaging to enhance giving day performance .  â?Loyalty Society: Manage the Washington University Loyalty Society, our consecutive giving recognition program. Develop and execute annual strategies to drive donor retention and acquisition through direct marketing and cross-promotion opportunities. Oversee donor acknowledgements, stewardship pieces, newsletters, events, and other forms of recognition. Research and integrate industry trends and peer institution benchmarking to enhance Loyalty Society membership appreciation and expand donor audience recognition.  Student Philanthropy and Class Giving : Strategically partner with AGP and UA teams to coordinate direct marketing efforts for student philanthropy and reunion/class giving programs. Assist with executing Senior Class Gift campaigns and events. Develop and recommend marketing opportunities to engage current students with Annual Fund educational resources, impact/stewardship activities, and participation (giving) options. Liaise with Reunion/Class Giving and ACE Reunion teams to coordinate all DMP partnerships and projects to support alumni participation. Track activities, generate reports, and provide regular updates of various metrics pertaining to duties of this role, as needed. Collaborate with colleagues on programs and projects that overlap with those stated above. Assist, as necessary, with AGP and other relevant University Advancement events and campaigns. Undertake additional projects or perform other duties as assigned by the Director and Executive Director of Annual Giving Programs. Preferred Qualifications Three to four years of experience in fundraising, program/project management, or a field requiring the application of similar skills including marketing, advertising/sales, communications, or public relations. Significant experience planning and managing complex programs, projects, or marketing campaigns: setting timelines and priorities, analyzing data, working with complex reporting and data sets, coordinating work among multiple teams, maintaining vendor relationships, developing and managing organized systems of processes and protocols, etc. Experience planning events (virtual, live, or hybrid) is beneficial, but not required. Understanding or awareness of nonprofit operations, annual giving fundraising, and direct marketing/persuasive marketing and communication strategies. Knowledge of university environment; experience working in educational/nonprofit organization setting is a plus. Working knowledge of and proficiency with standard office equipment, hardware, and software; advanced skills within Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Experience using database, website/online form solutions, and other software platforms. Familiarity with Salesforce, BlackBaud, MyEmma, ThankView, Phonathon systems (such as RNL Engage), Workday, SmartSheet, Box, or ClickUp. Disposition of creativity and collaboration with the initiative to brainstorm new ideas, explore novel concepts, and embrace innovative opportunities. Desire to work collaboratively with colleagues. Comfortable facilitating the work of teams and individuals, including peers, students, and volunteers. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to relay detailed instructions and provide or solicit feedback Demonstrated strength in organizational, time management, and project management skills. Minimum of three years of related experience. Grade G12 Salary Range $55,600.00 – $94,900.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
