The Associate Athletic Director for Brand Strategy and Marketing Innovation reports to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations and is responsible for the strategic plan and execution of the Beaver Creative Unit (fan experience/marketing/creative). Responsible for strategies in the areas of brand management, marketing, fan experience and merchandise/licensing. Provides supervision and leadership to assigned staff in those units, as well as Band and Cheer. Contributes to the leadership, development, and execution of the athletic department’s strategic plan.

Decision making guidelines: Makes independent decisions, in addition to seeking direction from the Senior Associate AD for External Operations for larger issues. This position must work collaboratively to plan and resolve issues that impact functions across the department and University. Participates in the development of the overall strategic vision of the department. Creates the vision and ensures the execution of that vision, of fan experience at all Oregon State athletic events. Between band and cheer, this role provides leadership for over 200 Oregon State students.

Must abide by all OSU, PAC-12 and NCAA policies and procedures.

This position requires a clear and unambiguous commitment to compliance of all National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) regulations for Division I (FBS) Universities.

Position Duties:

25% BRAND AND CREATIVE MANAGEMENT
Establishes, maintains, and manages the creative tone and pace of OSU Athletics, including making determinations about what content is produced by the team. Responsible for the quality of creative work produced by the unit, while maintaining standards of creative excellence. Identifies new trends and makes implementation recommendations. Establishes best practices for the unit to ensure the latest technology and trends are discovered and utilized, putting OSU in a leading-edge position among top Universities in the county.
Assists in creation of external communication pieces, specifically those related to advertising, promotion of events, in-house video board features and storytelling via social platforms.
This position manages the equipment needed for the Beaver Creative team (software, hardware, cameras, production equipment)
Manages branding strategy by strategically aligning marketing/advertising resources. Responsible for implementation of branding strategy through media/advertising efforts (e.g., television, radio, billboard, etc.). Works with external team to maintain consistency in messaging to fan base and constituents.
Brand and creative management requires knowledge of compliance rules.

25% MARKETING AND FAN EXPERIENCE
Oversees the creation and execution of team marketing and promotional plans. Provides structure for in-game production and game day atmosphere to expand the fan base and grow attendance. Oversight of game day scripts produced by staff members. Responsible for the communication between social media staff and in-game production staff to maximize content produced across all platforms, which drives attendance and revenue. Implements fan experience program, including Fan Experience Committee and Beaver Dam student program. Collaborates with Beaver Sports Properties to conceptualize sponsorship agreements that are in alignment with department strategic plan.

15% LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISION OF STAFF
Provides leadership and supervision to other employees that may include all Beaver Creative staff (marketing, creative, video).
Plans and approves work for, as well as disciplines and rewards employees based on agreed upon metrics and strategic outcomes. Responds to grievances, effectively recommends hires, promotions, and terminations. Performs annual evaluations as directed by Oregon State policy.

15% MERCHANDISE AND LICENSING
Works closely with university licensing, online partner and brick-and-mortar partner (and others) to maximizes brand and revenue opportunities. Has a pulse on national landscape in this space and makes recommendations for partnerships, projects, and pieces in a timely manner.

10% BUDGET OVERSIGHT
Has signature authority over Beaver Creative, cheer, and band budgets. Provides input during annual budget reviews and presents priorities and initiatives to Senior Associate AD via the strategic planning process each year.

5% STRATEGIC PLANNING
Effectively recommends input on strategic goals and outcomes relative to marketing plans, branding and fan engagement protocols for all sports. Recommends delegation protocols and priorities. Responsible for the overall direction of marketing plans, assises and evaluates plans for unique execution specific to each sport. Reviews plans to ensure that they help grow attendance, positively impact atmosphere, and drive revenue.

5% DIRECTION OF BAND AND CHEER
Directs band, cheerleaders, mascots, and all participants for external and in-game activities. Trains all employees on PAC-12 policy as per sport, as well as NCAA rules and regulations. Provides clear communication and direction for all post-season travel (or other authorized performances). Ensures proper safety certificated for cheer program. Has signature authority over cheer budget and input on band’s use of funds (in consultation with the Senior Associate AD). Minimum required qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sports Management or related field. • 5 years of experience at an  NCAA  Division 1  FBS  Institution or equivalent professional-level experience • 3 years of supervisory experience • A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity • This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per  OSU  Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
Preferred qualifications:
• Master’s degree • Involvement in national organizations applicable to field (Ex:  NACMA ) Salary is commensurate with education, training and experience
