Tucson, Arizona, The Assistant Director of Marketing will plan and lead the execution of the strategic marketing plans for each Business Affairs Auxiliary Services (BAAS) unit: UA Bookstores, Arizona Student Unions, and Parking & Transportation Services. This position will manage the Marketing Coordinators, assign and oversee their day-to-day project activities, and measure all marketing project outcomes. As a strategic marketing expert, the Assistant Director of Marketing will recommend strategies and subsequent strategy adjustments based on data analytics and will be experienced in packaging and presenting marketing recommendations and results to leadership and key stakeholders. A well-qualified applicant is a dynamic leader with team and project management experience, highly effective organization and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Lead the planning and execution of all marketing plan project activities (includes advertising, promotions, websites/social media, etc.)
Develop and implement a variety of targeted marketing strategies to produce measurable outcomes and effectively deliver marketing messages that promote and showcase the BAAS units and their respective programs/resources.
Assign marketing projects to each team member and monitor the individual and collective team workflow to ensure all project deadlines are met.
Direct pre- and post-marketing activity data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Collaborate with clients and share best practices and recommendations to help them understand the most effective marketing strategies to use based on their goals/expected outcomes (i.e., to raise awareness, grow business opportunities, reach financial goals, etc.).
Provide training, direction, and instruction as necessary to support the team’s completion of marketing projects.
Conduct marketing research to stay abreast of current industry trends and new tools/strategies.
Encourage and support ongoing training and professional development opportunities for the team to maintain a culture of continuous learning and growth in a variety of marketing topics.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
Ability to organize, plan, develop, and execute marketing projects and efforts with time sensitive deadlines
Ability to lead, coach, and mentor team members
Ability to think critically and problem solve to meet client expectations

Physical requirements:

Occasionally transports/moves a minimum of 30 pounds.
Frequently reaches, lifts, carries, and pushes.
Frequent sitting and regular walking to and from meetings in various campus locations.

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
Minimum of 5 years of related work experience, including 2 years of managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred qualifications:

4 years of managerial experience
Experience using metric driven marketing strategies
Experience conducting data analytics to inform and drive decision making
Experience implementing marketing best practices to achieve key goals and outcomes
