Hillsdale, Michigan, The Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing & Athletic Communications manages a high level unit comprised of athletic marketing, corporate partnerships and athletic communications. Functions to include development and execution of an athletics marketing plan and corporate partnerships through local, regional and national partners as well as promotion of Charger athletics through all media means. The Assistant Athletic Director is responsible for the manner in which Charger athletics is perceived by fans, partners, parents and colleagues.

Day-to-day, nonpartisan and objective promotion of department, staff and student athletes, through any media source that affords attention to Charger athletics.
Promote and improve the Charger athletic brand through social, digital, print and other avenues through local, regional and national outlets
More specifically, management and promotion of communications for community events, department activities and other related events. Emphasis to be placed on distribution of content to local, county, regional and national media outlets
Manage athletic department and individual sport programs social media accounts on all platforms. Increase the following and traffic flow to athletically-related social media accounts.
Efficiently collaborate with the Hillsdale College departments of Marketing and External Affairs, and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference and NCAA media relations staff
Oversee the athletic website and direct day-to-day maintenance and content quantity and quality.
Management of weekly and postgame student-athlete and coach interview opportunities.
Manage inventory of all media related content – print, photo, web, video, records, statistics, awards and all other athletically related content – for media and historical records needs.
Manage and schedule team media days to include team and individual photos, interviews, video content and any other media related needs.
Provide support as administrator at away from home competitions as needed — specific emphasis on conference (GMAC), NCAA regional and national competitions.
Supervise Director of Athletic Communications.
Recruit, supervise, and train Athletic Communications Assistant, Marketing Assistant and student workers. Student workers for specific game day responsibilities, writing, video/photo content.
Lead and oversee athletic marketing and corporate sponsorship plan to generate revenue, create positive game environment, and actively promote Charger athletics and its student-athletes and coaches.
Directly oversee in-game promotions plan and team for team sport competitions.
Oversee corporate partnerships program – identification and negotiation of partner deals, execution of plans.
Development and implementation of annual athletics marketing plan.
Manage the preparation and distribution of game day programs and schedule cards/posters.
Responsible for preparation and management of budgets for Athletics Marketing, Corporate Partnerships and Athletic Communications in conjunction with Assoc AD Business Management. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Possess excellent technical skills-familiarity with various software, hardware, and systems necessary to manage electronic media.
Possess strong human relations skills.
Must have excellent knowledge of administrative procedures.
Possess excellent writing and editing skills.
Possess excellent verbal communications skills.
Possess an excellent understanding of the College’s mission and the Athletic Department’s mission.
Knowledge of NCAA rules & regulations.
Knowledge of PrestoSports platform
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to express effectively ideas orally and in writing.
Experience with graphic design and Adobe suite or similar software
General knowledge of statistical applications used in NCAA

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  
Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Sport Management or related field required.  Previous experience in an athletic communications/sports information department preferred. Experience with website content management and social media management preferred. Previous experience leading an athletic communications department and some level of video production knowledge is also preferred.
  Physical Requirements

Must be able to ambulate, step, climb, stoop, bend twist and carry heavy objects (i.e. equipment) over uneven terrain.
Must be able to hear, see, talk, read and communicate with Hillsdale College colleagues, athletes, prospective athletes, donors and other constituents orally and in writing.
Must be able to safely lift up to 50+ pounds of equipment regularly.
