Davis, California, ALUMNI EXTERNAL REL SPEC 3 (Development Marketing & Communication Analyst) Job Summary EVENTS PLANNING, MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS MANAGEMENT Assist in planning and executing all events including events marketing and budgeting. Oversee monitoring of financial accounts to ensure adherence to approved event budget and compliance with University policies and procedures. Review business processes related to financial performance and make recommendations to improve processes. Develops content for events such as invitations, posters, flyers, and talking points for discipline area leadership. Manages external communications, including but not limited to, event invitations, department newsletters, alumni communications, and stewardship initiatives. Supports the ongoing development priorities of the unit through developing and deploying collateral in support of the college’s fundraising priorities, annual campaigns (i.e. Annual Fund, Give Day), special projects, etc. Coordinate, with the Development Team, all procurement for the College Relations and Development unit. Collect needs, find vendors and pricing, get approval, and order. Confirm order and compliance. DEVELOPMENT WRITER In consultation with the development unit leaders and the college marketing unit, writes proposals, case statements and other materials such as content for donor and alumni-related communications for development needs. Contributes to social media and interactive communications efforts to promote the college and UC Davis messaging. Writes news, profiles and features. Develops content for newsletters, power-point presentations, and other communication efforts for discipline area leadership. Writes reports, supports grant-writing efforts for discipline area leadership team. Produces multimedia content, including photos, on-camera interviews video. Provides basic editing services for all produced content. Works independently with direction and priorities from the director of marketing and communications, and the discipline area leadership team. Works collaboratively with college-wide communications projects led by the College’s Marketing and Communications Team. Work on special projects, as assigned, which could include data analysis for top fundraising priorities. ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT Ensure all data, expenses, income, and wide-ranging policies for College Relations and Development events and communication activities comport with university and DEVAR policies. Work with large amounts of confidential donor data, sorting, filtering, and providing detailed, organized reports to the team. Provide data management of prospect and donor information for large scale direct and virtual mailings including complex list development requiring multiple criteria. Represent the College and Division at appropriate campus and university marketing and development meetings and events. QUALIFICATIONS Required : Valid California Driver’s License and ability to travel in and out of California. Strong project management and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to work in a demanding environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of or ability to learn University systems, organizational structure, policies and procedures. Knowledge or ability to learn Kuali, Advance, Decision Support and Microsoft Office systems. Demonstrated knowledge of personnel management principles and practices; knowledge of UC policies and procedures preferred. Knowledge of general practices in advancement including prospect research, cultivation, and the stewardship of donors. Preferred : Excellent knowledge of the university, its achievements, vision , mission, and goals, objectives, applicable policies, infrastructure and current issues of concern for higher education generally. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of an office-wide team of professional and administrative colleagues. Ability to interact with diverse constituencies and to work collaboratively in teams and with other units of the campus.
